Weaving #1: Seriously Cool Loom Flowers!
Submitted by Pam on Mon, 06/17/2013 - 23:44The next two weeks will be devoted to weaving! Lots of different kinds of weaving! And we are starting it off with Teneriffe and its "spin-off cousins" - flower looms.
Thinking some of you might be surprised at the sweet possibilities the flower looms offer - so I am sharing a few of them along with a link to one of the best free PDF's available for making loom flowers.
And in a couple more days - a tutorial from me to you for making a simplified Teneriffe lacy snowflake just like the one above! It is not as hard as it looks!
Making Hexies On The Go Travel Kit
Submitted by Pam on Tue, 04/30/2013 - 19:40Most of my readers know that when I am working on a project in earnest, I carry it with me almost everywhere I go to take advantage of what would otherwise be "lost" minutes! This habit is a big part of how I manage to fit as much crafty goodness into my life as I do! Generally speaking - most fiber crafts - knitting, crochet, embroidery and hand sewing - are excellent candidates! Hexies on the go - a bit more challenging! So many little bits and scraps - and hexies to corral.
How To Mark Stitch Lines for Embroidery on Felted Fabric Easter Eggs (and Balls)
Submitted by Pam on Thu, 03/07/2013 - 19:12Marking straight lines on felted fabrics can be a bit tricky. Chalk barely stays in place long enough to get the job done and marking pens seem to find the uneven texture a challenge. So I tried using masking tape and to my surprise it worked perfectly!
Masking tape clings just enough to stay in place while stitching and releases without pulling the fibers. I used the same pieces over and over - no need for a fresh piece each time a line needs to be marked.

Submitted by Pam on Thu, 11/29/2012 - 21:12Make a family heritage garland to celebrate the holiday season!
Every yarn star on my garland represents a part of my heritage - countries of my ancestors. The colors and designs are derived from the flag of each country and the center of each holds a small mirror - a reflection of who I am and where I came from.
